Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! Here we talk about all wonderful things happening in the theatre, on and off the stage. In this blog we will be telling you about the accessibility in and around our theatre, from our accessible seating to our touch tours.
Accessible Seating – Our theatre has undergone refurbishment, and we have a full disabled access to the stalls level. Seats on rows A, B, C & D and the back row near the bar and toilets, are all accessible to wheelchair users. These can be booked by groups of any size.
We also have a lift to take you up or down to any floor but there are no wheelchair accessible seats in the circle or balcony.
If you are a wheelchair user please contact our Box Office to book your ticket so we can accommodate you plus a carer if needed.
Captioning – We now have Captioning available! You can now ready the actors lines as they are said on stage, either with a pair of our captioning glasses or with one of our tablets. All you must do to book your equipment is email our box office at boxoffice@liverpoolsroyalcourt.com.
Assistive Listening & Audio Description – We now have an Assistive Listening system in place. We are using Sennheiser Mobile Connect which is an app that can be downloaded to your own phone and you can bring your own headphones if you choose. If you don’t have a smartphone or need to borrow some headphones, then just let us know.
There will be an Audio Described performance and a British Sign Language performance for most shows, please check each show page or call Box Office for details.
We also now offer a touch tour for people with visual impairments. This is the chance to get guided around the set by the audio describer where people can listen to what the set looks like and feel some of the costumes and props involved in the show. If you would like to take part in the touch tour just let box office know when you book your audio tickets.
Carers tickets – Carers tickets are also available for anyone who needs to accompany a customer who is in need of PIP, or Attendance Allowance if over the age of 65. For more information on this please contact our Box Office.
We want to make sure all our customers have a enjoyable experience when visiting our theatre so contact our Box Office if you have further questions and please inform us of any access needs when you book.
For further information you can visit our Accessibility page.
Thanks for reading our blog today and we hope to see you at our theatre soon!
