Performers’ Workshops

As part of our Talent Development Scheme, we are offering a selection of FREE workshops. These are relaxed, informal workshops that are designed to cater for actors and creatives at different stages of their career – be they graduates, working actors, or performers returning to stage after some time away from the stage.

These sessions are for people aged 18 and over. Spaces are limited, must be booked in advance and are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please only book for one workshop to give everyone a fair opportunity to attend.

Please be aware that this is not an opportunity to pitch ideas for plays or to hand over scripts you want read by Liverpool’s Royal Court. For more info on hiring the studio, please visit our Venue Hire page. If you are interested in submitting a script to the team, please visit our New Writing page.

We will also be hosting a free drop-in session on Wednesday 8 October, 12pm-2pm.

THEATRE AUDITION TECHNIQUE – MONOLOGUES

Tuesday 14 October, 1pm-3pm
The Studio, Liverpool’s Royal Court
8 spaces available

This session gives actors an opportunity to try out audition speeches and monologues in front of the group, before getting one-on-one direction and feedback. If you’d rather just learn from watching others work, that’s brilliant as well. This workshop is a relaxed and supportive opportunity for actors to learn from each other as well as from us.

Click here to book your space.

AUDITIONING WITH SIDES

Wednesday 15 October, 1pm-3pm
The Studio, Liverpool’s Royal Court
7 spaces available

Auditioning with sides is a vital part of any actors tool kit. In this workshop, we guide you through the ins and outs of delivering dynamic and memorable performances using audition sides. This workshop offers personalised feedback and tips to fine tune your audition technique and improve your confidence.

How it works:
A few days before the workshop, we’ll send you a few pages of script to look over and prepare. On the day, you’ll give your audition with another actor there to read in with you. You’ll then be offered feedback, direction and a chance to go through your sides again.

This workshop is by invitation only. To register your interest, please click here.

OPEN STAGE

Friday 17 October, 1pm-3.30pm
The Studio, Liverpool’s Royal Court

This is an opportunity for actors and directors to meet and work on scenes in our spaces. This workshop will bring together actors and directors to work on scenes from Royal Court plays past and present. It’s an informal workshop where people can rehearse on our stages, getting a feel for the space while meeting and working with fellow creatives from in and around Liverpool. A member of the production team will be present to facilitate, but essentially the space will be yours to play with.

This workshop is by invitation only. To register your interest, please click here.
