1. About Us

1.1. “Theatre” or “we” means Liverpool’s Royal Court and its associated venues.

1.2. “Management” means Liverpool’s Royal Court, its representatives, employees and authorised agents.

1.3. Tickets for Liverpool’s Royal Court are sold via Simply Tickets Ltd. Ticket revenue is transferred to Liverpool’s Royal Court following the performance.

2. Health & Safety Compliance

2.1. Patrons must:

  • Follow all health and safety instructions
  • Comply with emergency procedures and staff directions
  • Refrain from behaviour that could endanger themselves or others

Failure to comply may result in removal from the venue without refund.

3. Buying Tickets

3.1. All tickets are sold subject to availability and these Terms & Conditions.

3.2. Please check your tickets carefully at the time of booking. Unfortunately, mistakes can’t always be rectified once a booking has been completed.

3.3. We may place limits on the number of tickets that can be purchased per person or per transaction. Some seating combinations, including those that would leave a single seat unsold, may not be available to book online.

3.4. All ticket prices are inclusive of VAT (where applicable). Booking or transaction fees are nonrefundable.

4. Refunds, Exchanges & Cancellations

4.1. A 24-hour grace period applies to all tickets from the point of purchase. After this point, tickets are non-refundable except where required by law.

4.2. Tickets may be exchanged for another performance, subject to:

  • availability;
  • One week’s notice except for Group Bookings of 10 or more where 1 month’s notice must be given
  • a £5 administration fee per ticket;
  • the difference in ticket prices may apply

4.3. Pre-booked dining is non-refundable. Customers must arrive at least one hour before the advertised show start time to guarantee service. Late arrival will mean we are unable to serve dining in time before the show starts, and refunds will not be authorised.

  • For matinee performances, you must arrive no later than 12.30pm.
  • For evening performances, you must arrive no later than 6.30pm.

4.4. If a performance is cancelled, ticket holders will be offered either tickets to a rescheduled or alternative performance (subject to availability), or a refund of the face value of the ticket.

4.5. Our liability in the event of cancellation is limited to the face value of the ticket plus any applicable per-ticket booking fee.

4.6. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to check performance dates and times, including any rescheduled performances. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals.

5. Changes to Performances

5.1. We reserve the right to make changes to the advertised programme, cast, performance times or content where reasonably necessary. Such changes do not entitle ticket holders to a refund.

6. Ticket Delivery & Collection

6.1. Tickets will be sent digitally or held for collection at Box Office.

6.2. We cannot accept responsibility for tickets that are lost, stolen, or damaged.

7. Resale & Unauthorised Tickets

7.1. Tickets must not be resold. Any ticket resold or transferred in breach of this condition may be cancelled without refund, and the ticket holder may be refused entry or ejected from the Theatre without refund.

7.2. We are not responsible for tickets purchased via resellers or secondary ticketing websites.

8. Seating & View

8.1. Your ticket entitles you to a seat of the value shown on the ticket. Occasionally, we may need to provide alternative seating. If alternative seating of a lower value is provided, we will refund the difference.

8.2. Please note that some seats may have restricted views, and stage layouts and sets may not be finalised at the time tickets go on sale.

9. Concessions & Discounts

9.1. Concessions and discounts are subject to availability and may be withdrawn at any time.

9.2. Only one discount applies per ticket. Valid proof of eligibility may be required on entry.

10. Admission & Latecomers

10.1. The performance start time is shown on your ticket. Please arrive in good time. For your convenience, standard door times are as follows:

  • Stalls dining from 5:45pm
  • Circle and Balcony ticket holders from 6:45pm
  • Studio performances from 6:30pm

Please be aware door and show times are show specific and subject to change. Please check your ticket, confirmation email or our website for the correct times in advance of your arrival.

10.2. If you have booked a pre-show dining or you are planning to dine with us then you need to arrive at least one hour before the show starts. If you get here any later than that, we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to serve you and we will not be able to refund for pre-booked dining.

  • For matinee performances, you must arrive no later than 12.30pm.
  • For evening performances, you must arrive no later than 6.30pm.

10.3. It is the responsibility of the ticket holder to check performance dates and times, including any rescheduled performances. Refunds will not be issued for late arrivals.

10.4. Admission is limited to ticket holders only, except for babes in arms when expressly allowed.

10.5. We’ll always try to admit latecomers at a suitable point in the performance, but admission after the show has started cannot be guaranteed. Entry will be permitted at a suitable point in the performance.

10.6. Defaced or altered tickets may be declared invalid and refused entry.

10.7. All customers enter the theatre premises at their own risk. By purchasing a ticket or attending an event, you agree to comply with these terms and all venue rules.

11. Damage to Property

11.1. Patrons are responsible for any damage they cause to theatre property and may be charged for repair or replacement costs.

12. Children & Young People

12.1. Unless otherwise stated, performances at Liverpool’s Royal Court are recommended for audiences aged 16+. Our productions are primarily written for adult audiences and may contain strong language or adult themes.

12.2. Where a performance is suitable for children or young people, this will be clearly indicated at the time of booking. Children aged 2-15 inclusive require their own ticket. Where no child concession is available at the time of booking, tickets will be charged at the full price. Babes in arms (children under 2 years) may be admitted free of charge to suitable performances only.

12.3. Parental discretion applies at all times. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children in their care at all times.

12.4. For group bookings, a minimum supervision ratio of one adult to ten children applies.

12.5. We reserve the right to ask parents or guardians to remove children from the Theatre if, in our reasonable opinion, their behaviour is causing disruption to the performance or other audience members.

13. Access & Accessibility

13.1. While the theatre strives to provide accessible facilities, it is not liable for any limitations unless required by law.

13.2. Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any access requirements, so we can support you as fully as possible.

13.3 Due to limited accessible seating capacity, wheelchair spaces and other accessible seating must be booked in advance via the Box Office. This helps us ensure we can accommodate everyone safely and comfortably.

13.4. Please note if a wheelchair space has not been requested at the time of booking, we may be unable to accommodate you on the day. The booking process clearly states that all wheelchair bookers should contact the Box Office.

13.5. If you have access requirements, we ask that you aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before the performance start time to allow sufficient time for easy access to your seats.

13.6. For health and safety reasons, we may restrict access to certain areas of the Theatre.

14. Force Majeure

14.1. The theatre shall not be liable for cancellations, delays, or interruptions caused by events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to:

  • Severe weather
  • Power outages
  • Industrial disputes
  • Government restrictions

15. Behaviour & Safety

15.1. We want everyone to enjoy the show and feel safe and welcome while they’re with us. We reserve the right to refuse admission or remove any ticket holder (without refund). The following behaviour may result in us refusing admission or removal from the theatre:

  • disrupting the performance or other audience members’ enjoyment;
  • abusive, threatening, discriminatory or anti-social behaviour towards staff or other customers;
  • being intoxicated or otherwise under the influence of drugs or alcohol to a level that may affect safety or the enjoyment of others;
  • smoking;
  • vaping
  • refusing to follow reasonable instructions given by Theatre staff;
  • posing a risk to health, safety or security;
  • breaching these Terms & Conditions.

15.2. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to racism, hate speech and abuse. Any such behaviour will result in immediate removal from the Theatre, and serious incidents will be reported to the police. Individuals involved will also be banned from the Theatre, and any future bookings will be cancelled without refund.

15.3. Mobile phones must be switched off during the performance. Photography, filming or audio recording of any kind during the show is not permitted.

15.4. Security measures, including bag searches, may be in place. Refusal to comply with security checks will result in refusal of entry and no refunds will be issued.

16. What You Can and Can’t Bring

16.1. For the comfort and safety of everyone, the following are not permitted inside the Theatre:

  • Illegal/recreational drugs
  • Offensive weapons (or an item that could be used as one)
  • Unauthorised objects such as laser pens, fireworks, paint sprays, bladed article
  • Any drinks including soft and alcohol (sealed bottled water is permitted)
  • Any unsealed/reusable bottles/containers
  • All food (with the exception of pre-packaged sweet snacks)
  • Any other items which the management consider to be dangerous or cause disruption.
  • Dogs, except registered guide dogs

This list is not exhaustive and Management reserves the right to refuse entry in regard to any items deemed unsafe or inappropriate.

16.2. We have fresh drinking water stations available throughout the building for your convenience. Any Alcohol or Unsealed Bottles will be confiscated and disposed of. Any Reusable Bottles will be confiscated and emptied, but will be available to collect upon exiting the theatre. Any patrons who leave the building with Alcohol or Unsealed Bottles and try to re-enter will be refused entry.

16.3. Items brought in breach of these rules may be confiscated and disposed of, and we may ask ticket holders to leave without refund. Refusal to comply with these requirements will result in refusal of entry or removal from the Theatre without refund.

16.4. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere inside the Theatre.

17. Personal Property

17.1. All personal property is brought into the Theatre at your own risk. We accept no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal belongings. Customers are advised to keep their valuables secure at all times.

17.2. Unattended items may be removed or destroyed for safety reasons.

18. Filming & Photography

18.1. Audience members may be filmed, photographed or recorded (including incidental capture) for publicity, broadcast, security or archival purposes. By purchasing a ticket, you consent to such recording.

18.2. Photography, filming or audio recording of any kind during the show is not permitted.

19. Privacy & Data Protection

19.1. We take your privacy seriously. Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation, including GDPR.

19.2. By purchasing a ticket, you consent to us using your details to:

  • process your booking,
  • contact you about your performance,
  • share information about future shows, offers and events, when you opt in to marketing communications

Our full Privacy Policy is available to download.

20. Group Reservations

20.1. The Terms & Conditions set out above apply to group reservations, except where additional or alternative terms are outlined in this section.

20.2. Group Reservations apply only to groups of 10 or more. A minimum of 10 tickets must be purchased for a reservation to remain valid. If a reservation falls below 10 tickets it will be cancelled and tickets released for general sale.

20.3. Group Reservations are held until the agreed payment deadline, which will be confirmed at the time of booking. If payment is not received by the deadline, the reservation will automatically expire, and all tickets will be released for general sale. We do not hold any payment details. Therefore, it is incumbent on the booker to contact us to make a payment before the expiry date.

20.4. Tickets not returned or released by the agreed deadline will be treated as confirmed and will be charged in full. After this point, tickets cannot be refunded, exchanged or credited.

20.5. Group Bookings may be exchanged to another performance in accordance with our standard exchange policy – please see section 4.

20.6. Where Group Bookings requests for split seating or separate subgroup arrangements are made, we require a minimum of one week’s notice to accommodate. While every effort will be made, specific seating configurations cannot be guaranteed without the required notice.

20.7. Group reservation deadlines apply regardless of whether all tickets are ultimately used.

20.8. Group reservations may not be resold or transferred and are for the use of the named group only.

21. Liability

21.1. Our liability is limited to the face value of the ticket purchased.

21.2. We are not responsible for any indirect or consequential losses, including travel or accommodation costs.

22. Personal Injury

  • Any personal injury sustained on the premises
  • Any accidents occurring before, during, or after performances

Exception: Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence of the theatre, its employees, or agents, as required under UK law.

  • Breach of these terms
  • Their own negligent or unlawful behaviour

24. General

24.1. If any part of these Terms & Conditions is found to be invalid, the remaining sections will continue to apply.

24.2. These Terms & Conditions, together with your ticket, form the entire agreement between us.

24.3. These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction.

25. Amendments

25.1. The theatre reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on the theatre’s website or made available at the venue.
