Thu 18th Jun to Fri 23rd Oct
As part of our Creative Development programme, Stage Craft is a range courses for actors at all levels, from emerging through to regularly working and established, offering continuing professional development all stages of your career.
All workshops are delivered by Harvey Robinson. Harvey is an actor, composer and tutor with experience in theatre, TV and radio. He has worked with the BBC and Channel 4, and performed on the West End, Broadway and a number of national tours.
How to select, prepare and present a monologue off-book in an audition context.
You will be asked to bring an off-book monologue to be worked on 1-2-1.
Looking at how we prepare, annotate and deliver auditions using pages given on the day with only fifteen minutes to prep.
On the day, pages will be assigned to you and you will have time to analyse and prepare, before presenting them in a mock audition set up.
Notes and direction will be given, along with opportunities to apply those notes and perform the piece again.
Script preparation is an essential part of an actors work, however, it is also disposable.
Flexibility and the ability to be unruffled by direction changes are encouraged and worked on in this workshop. We will use scene work to explore how to stay open to redirection during rehearsal.
In addition we will look at the benefits of disregarding logical choices in favour of broad, changeable play.
Focusing on substitutions and emotional imagination, enable us to reach for our own memories and explore how we can use recollections and experiences to create engaging and authentic performances.
We will tap into real experience to channel a visable and visceral emotive response.
Deliver bold, decisive and varied readings with little or no time to prepare.
Advice, guidance and information about analysing and annotating scripts in preparation for rehearsal or performance.
1-2-1 coaching in theatre performance. Harvey can tailor Stage Craft sessions to your needs. The session could be: drama school audition preparation; text analysis; public speaking and presentation, or any of the area covered in the group workshops.
