The idea for the Word Nerds group was developed by our Youth Theatre members. The young people felt passionate about literature and reading, writing and learning.
A number of master classes were held with professional writer Maurice Bessman and the group looked at writing interesting stories and short pieces for others to read. This became an overwhelming success and the young people wanted to continue writing their own short plays for production.
Over the months the young Word Nerds project has organically developed with the young people, they have been inspired by the process of writing and others reading and producing their scripts to full productions.

Watch out for some exciting performances from our young writing group Word Nerds – new scripts, poetry and song writing.
We are hoping to see some of their work on the main stage in the not so distant future.
